Cellulite removal is generally considered as being “untreatable” by conventional means. Using the GentleMAX™, the most powerful laser available for aesthetic use today we are able to effectively remove cellulite by tightening the skin. This treatment option is also effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and skin laxity by rejuvenating the skin.
While many lasers claim to be able to treat these conditions, GentleMAX™ is the only laser device that works at the appropriate depth to generate enough heat to stimulate the skin (without causing damage). Once this heat is introduced deep in the tissue, the skin is “fooled” into thinking it has been damaged and triggers a healing response that produces your body’s own collagen to repair the visual appearance of cellulite.
Because improvement is generated by your body’s own processes, the changes are gradual and take place over a series of 4-6 treatments spaced one month apart. Improvement will continue for approximately 3 months after your final treatment.
Cellulite Removal FAQs
Many patients feel that they are able to see improvement after the third treatment. This is highly variable and will depend on your own factors and how well you take care of your skin. For this reason, we recommend a daily skin care program, the daily use of sunscreen, and certain common sense behavior (limiting alcohol consumption, not smoking, etc) that will limit your body’s ability to produce collagen. You will continue to see results for 3 months after your last treatment.
Because everyone’s tolerance for pain is different, we cannot make any guarantees. You might feel some slight discomfort that is momentary, but it subsides quickly and you will be able to resume normal activity immediately. There is no downtime associated with this procedure.
The use of sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) is NOT OPTIONAL with this procedure. It is also recommended that you employ a daily skin care regimen. If you would like assistance with one, our skin care consultants will be happy to assist you. You may resume normal activity (including make-up, etc) immediately.
In general, the best way to maintain your results is to protect your skin and keep it healthy with a daily skin care program. Protecting it from the harmful effects of the sun, nicotine, and alcohol are also a very good idea. Many patients come in for an annual touch-up treatment for maintenance purposes. It is not necessary to repeat the initial series of treatments; generally one or two sessions per year is sufficient.
